If you’ve ever wanted to save $1500 on the world’s most expensive vodka, this is your chance

Here’s a suggestion for anyone struggling to find the perfect father’s day gift if your dad just so happens to be a billionaire like Harry Triguboff, Frank Lowy, James Packer or Ivan Glasenberg: how about a bottle of Russian vodka set inside a gold-plated Faberge egg?

Best of all, Australian online food and wine retailer TheGourmet.com.au is selling it off for a bargain-priced $1999 – $1500 less than the RRP $3,499.

What James Bond villain wouldn’t want one?

So what do you get for the money, aside from drunk and broke?

Well, the hand-crafted metal alloy egg is enamelled, varnished and highly polished. The detailing – an imperial eagle on top and feet in the form of lions with wings – is plated with 24 carat gold. And there are four shot glasses too.

Jonathon McNamara, spirits and wine buyer at TheGourmet.com.au reckons it’s all about the vodka, however.

“The gold-plated Faberge egg is obviously a statement in itself, but the vodka housed inside is what makes this product truly unique. The birch charcoal and quartz sand filtration process produces a vodka which is unmatched in smoothness and consistency,” McNamara said.

He suggests drinking it neat or over a single cube of ice.

And once it’s gone, you could always just fill it up again with Kirkland from Costco and see if any of your rich friends notice.
